Inclusive Cities

Inclusive cities encourage people and businesses to unfold in inclusive built environments and public spaces. They are based on the culture of social inclusion where no one is left to fall too far behind growing prosperity, and all have the opportunity to participate fully in social, cultural and political life and in economic activity, decision and progress. People are visible, have access and voices, and are empowered and acknowledged at all stages of their lives. Inclusive cities enable diversity in all terms versus segregation and divide. They capitalise on diversity to multiply their potentials and values and celebrate sharing of decision, information, experiences and success.

Inclusiveness is thus an important value, since including all societal agents in development is essential to economic, social, environmental and cultural development, and to sustainability and competitiveness.
