We are extremely delighted to announce the event Inspired by Syria, which will take place on the 19th of April at Rich Mix - London.

Inspired by Syria is an evening of stories and live music, inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Syria's life and music.

Featuring Dr Roudaina Al Khani and The Fifth Quadrant.

Roudaina's stories and memories from Syria and the live concert will take us on a journey sharing feelings relating to Syria’s current condition; loss, pain, ambiguity, but on the other hand, love, faithfulness, solidarity, continuity and hopes for a bright future. Hopes for life are sovereign and overcome any challenge.

Qanun player Maya Youssef will perform a solo with Syrian sentiments, which will lead to an improvised dialogue with other musicians performing on Oud, Violin, Percussion and Cello.

Antony Pitts’ new composition ‘An Antiphony’ will be played by the musical collective The Fifth Quadrant, and will draw the audience into an intense sequence of musical experiences throughout its four parts: Cries, Fuga, Love & Hope and A New Song.

Musicians from the UK and Syria/Middle East with instruments and sounds from their cultures illustrate how sharing feelings and thoughts and co-creation can heal, include, free and evoke new hopes.

We hope to see many of you sharing with us!
