Healing versus Reconstruction

While the international discourse mostly focusses on the 'Reconstruction of Syria' in physical terms, and many of the large construction companies look forward to a big turnover from building projects in this exhausted country, 'healing' should be the core of all interventions. We need to draw attention to the importance of understanding human conditions and strengthening human capital, and to the soft values of communities, including social bonds, identity and cultures, hereunder heritage in all terms, memory belonging and connections.
